Lebih dari 50 negara langsung menghubungi Gedung Putih untuk membuka jalur negosiasi. Kebijakan ini membuat pasar keuangan terguncang, memunculkan kekhawatiran akan resesi, dan mengacaukan sistem perdagangan internasional.<\/p>\n<p>Tarif baru dijadwalkan mulai diberlakukan akhir pekan ini. Menteri Keuangan AS, Scott Bessent, mengatakan bahwa praktik perdagangan tidak adil bukanlah hal yang bisa diselesaikan dalam waktu singkat. Vietnam juga menghubungi pemerintah AS, dan menyatakan kesediaan menurunkan tarif menjadi nol jika ada kesepakatan dagang yang tercapai.<\/p>\n<p>Dari Eropa, Perdana Menteri Italia Giorgia Meloni mengaku tidak setuju dengan kebijakan Trump, namun siap menggunakan semua cara diplomatik dan ekonomi untuk membela sektor usaha di negaranya.<\/p>\n<p>Perdana Menteri Selandia Baru, Christopher Luxon, menyampaikan bahwa negaranya belum secara resmi terlibat dalam negosiasi tarif dengan AS, namun tetap menjalin komunikasi dengan pejabat pemerintah Amerika. Ia menegaskan bahwa Selandia Baru tidak akan menerapkan tarif balasan, demi mencegah inflasi yang bisa merugikan pelaku usaha dan konsumen di dalam negeri. Sejumlah senator bahkan mendorong undang-undang baru yang mewajibkan presiden untuk mendapatkan persetujuan Kongres dalam memberlakukan tarif tambahan.<\/p>\n<p>Sementara itu, Elon Musk tokoh bisnis dan kepala Departemen Efisiensi Pemerintahan menyarankan agar AS dan Eropa menuju ke arah <em>\u201czero tariff\u201d.<\/em> Namun pernyataan itu langsung ditanggapi sinis oleh penasihat perdagangan Gedung Putih, Peter Navarro, yang menuding Musk hanya membela kepentingan pribadinya sebagai produsen mobil.<\/p>\n<p>Ekonom Lawrence Summers menambahkan bahwa pemerintah tidak bisa bersikap setengah-setengah. Jika tarif dimaksudkan untuk negosiasi semata, maka tidak akan ada keuntungan jangka panjang. Namun jika tujuannya adalah memindahkan manufaktur kembali ke AS, maka tarif harus menjadi kebijakan permanen.
